Mail Manager Tech Tips

Here are a few tech tips from BCC Customer Support that can help optimize your use of Mail Manager software:

  • Do Not Encode Walk Sequence Lists: When using a Walk Sequence list in Mail Manager, do not encode the list. This could cause differences with ZIP codes and carrier route assignments compared to the original data assigned during processing. The sequential Walk Sequence numbers are needed to presort the Walk Sequence list. If you receive a certified Walk Sequence list that does not include Walk Sequence numbers, Mail Manager can populate the Walk Sequence field with a sequential number. This can be done by using a Walk Sequence field and then going to Maintenance > Modify Selected Records, right clicking on the Walk Sequence field and selecting Calculate Walk Sequence. Click Begin at the bottom of the screen and save the procedure if you wish. (Please Note: If your list is not already in Walk Sequence order, this could potentially create inaccurate Walk Sequence data which may lead to failure upon USPS® inspection.)
  • Creating A Sublist: When creating a new list from existing records in another list within Mail Manager, the Sublist option is a great tool. Select the records you wish to remove from the original list using the Selectivity tool, then use the Create Sublist feature from the File menu. Once you name and save the Sublist, you will have a chance to create a different description and the option to remove the records in the original list that were added to the new sublist.
  • Blue Mail Manager Toolbar: When initially installing Mail Manager or installing it to a new computer, the ZIP+4, DPV and LACSLink indicators on the toolbar may be blue and say Disabled. Make sure that your Processor Information has been completed. This Processor Information can be found by going to Configure > Preferences > and selecting the Processor Info Tab. Once the required fields have been completed and you have clicked OK, the toolbar should turn green. If it does not, make sure that you are connected to the Internet. You may need to exit and restart Mail Manager.
