At the Blog: Direct Mail's Continued Importance; Real Postal Reform
Two new blog posts this week at Mailing Industry News explore essential issues for the postal community.
First, check out this post from BCC President Chris Lien on the recent proposed USPS exigency rate case, which includes an average increase of 5 to 6 percent for all mail classes and much higher rate hikes for Periodicals and Package Services. A coalition of concerned mailers has petitioned Congress to look beyond reflexive rate adjustments and enact changes that can create real opportunities for true postal reform.
Another post at the BCC blog looks at a recent direct mail trend – the resurgence of non-profits using U.S. currency in mail campaigns to stand out among potential donors – as an example of the unique and lasting relevance of print mail in multi-channel marketing efforts. "They wouldn’t do it if it didn't work," says one industry expert.
